Give your child the opportunity to learn Italian in a fun, engaging, and structured environment. Italian School NJ offers Italian classes for children ages 3 and up, available online and in person at our East Hanover location, 49 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ.

Our programs are designed to support children at every stage of learning, with options including group classes, private instruction, tutoring, and family lessons. Through play-based activities, interaction, and guided instruction, students build confidence while developing strong Italian language skills.

Our programs are designed to support children at every stage of learning, with options including group classes, private instruction, tutoring, and family lessons. Many ongoing classes are available and can be joined with the teacher’s approval.

Please note that placement in any class other than a New Beginner class must be approved by our administration through testing. New classes can start anytime we have a minimum of four students signed up for the same class.

Multiple Class Options & Learning Levels

Italian School NJ offers many class options for children ages 3 and up, including 2-hour Saturday in-person classes, 1.5-hour weekday in-person sessions, 1-hour online classes, and private or family lessons.

Students are grouped by age and school grade and can attend one of three learning levels:

Age Groups & Classes

  • Pre-K Students: Cuccioli (Ages 3–5, Pre-K)

  • Elementary School Students:

    • Coccinelle (Kindergarten)

    • Scoiattoli (1st–2nd Grade)

    • Farfalle (3rd–5th Grade)

  • Middle School Students: Fringuelli (6th–8th Grade)

  • High School Students: Giraffe (9th–12th Grade)

Beginners and intermediate

Open to all students

  • Pre-K Students: Cuccioli (Ages 3–5, Pre-K)

  • Elementary School Students:

    • Coccinelle (Kindergarten)

    • Scoiattoli (1st–2nd Grade)

    • Farfalle (3rd–5th Grade)

Bilingual

For children who:

  • Understand Italian fluently

  • Have at least one native Italian-speaking parent

  • Have transferred from Italy and wish to continue their Italian language education

Tuition: $595 — 12 classes, 2 hour, in person

The “Scuola del Sabato” runs from September through June.

Fall Semester: September 13 to December 6th (no class on November 29)

Winter Semester: December 13 to March 21 (no class on December 27, January 3 & February 14)

Spring Semester: March 28 to June 13 (no classes on April 4 and May 23)

High School Tutoring and AP Prep

Italian School NJ has many highly qualified instructors, some of whom currently teach or have taught at the high school (public and private) and College level, that can assist with Italian courses or AP Italian exam.

Whether you may need help in getting a better overall grade, or assistance for an upcoming test, or reviewing a specific subject that may seem hard to understand, we can help. Italian School NJ takes a particularly spherical approach to instruction, which allows students a unique opportunity to engage in every aspect of the Italian language.

If your student is interested in an intensive prep AP course with some of his/her classmates and a 4 or a 5 on the AP exam, a small group can be arranged. Please request a class here.

Tuition for Individual Tutoring

$90 for a 1-hour session (with a high school or college teacher)

$130 for a 1.5-hour session (with a high school or college teacher)

Tuition are required to be paid in advance for at least 4 lessons. Please note that 24 hour notice is required to cancel an upcoming lesson.

Private tutoring is available anytime, including semi-private and family lessons.
